Whimsy Walks
Acommunity Project

Whimsy Walks is a Neighborhood Art and Nature Walks. It is located in University District, north Seattle. The area has many types of arts that people can enjoy while walking. Whimsy Walks has fifteen sites to walk through. This area needs to be known by artists so they can display their artwork for all walkers.

Mission

Our data led us to make a mobile app interface for the artist to participate in Whimsy Walks and give them some agency within the platform to promote their projects and insights into how their work is being received. We aim to generate an interactive and engaging environment.  We incorporated a feature to submit results for approval, an analytics page, and a tipping feature that would allow walkers to send gratuity to artists they feel a connection towards. These features would promote organic growth within the program and offer pathways into expanding beyond the current neighborhood offerings, which is just the Ravenna area in north Seattle.

Vision

We think of a platform for artists that prioritizes community engagement and privacy. This platform will be a space where artists can connect, share their work, and receive feedback from the community.

We believe artists are looking for a supportive and safe online local community. We want to ensure this platform welcomes artists of all backgrounds and skill levels. We also wanted to provide tools and features that make it easy for artists to engage with one another and share their work.

We believe privacy is also an important consideration for this project. We understand that artists may have concerns about sharing their work online, and we want to provide tools and features that help them control who can see their work and who can give feedback.
